Upload and verify your driver's license or state ID

Overview 


In this article, users will learn to scan and upload their driver's license or state ID to help verify their identities online. 

During this process, users will take a selfie photo in order to match themselves to the picture on their identity documents using facial recognition. 


What you will need to verify your driver's license or state ID


Before starting, users should ensure that they have the following:

  • User account 
  • A mobile device with a working camera that can receive and send SMS messages


Users will also need the following identity documents available to scan and upload

  • Unexpired driver's license or state ID card



Getting started


To get started, users must log in to their 1Kosmos user account on the identity verification tenant provided by an administrator. If you still need to create an account, please see Creating a 1Kosmos account for identity verification for more information. 


       1Navigate to your identity verification tenant and log in to access your account. 


       2Review the privacy notice and click Continue to Identity Verification


       3Click Identity Wallet to access the document enrollment page. 



Enroll your driver's license or state ID


A valid phone number is required to enroll your identity documents


After logging in, users can proceed to enroll their driver's license or ID.  



       1. Click Enroll, located beneath the Driver's License card.  

    


       2Enter the number for your mobile device. Click Continue.

 


       3Check your mobile device for a text message containing a link. Click the link to open the URL on your mobile device.

 

       4Mark the checkbox indicating you have read the Consent Notice and click Accept. 


       5Click Front and use the camera on your mobile device to take a photo of the front of your driver's license or state ID card.


       6. Click Back and use the camera on your mobile device to take a photo of the back of your driver's license or state ID card.


       7. After taking both photos, click Next. 


Tips for getting a good picture

If you are having difficulty taking a good image, please try the following: 

  • Lay the ID on a flat surface and keep it against a dark background

  • Avoid any glare on the ID

  • Make sure the image is clear and not blurry

  • Ensure that all four corners of the ID are visible

 



Selfie Verification 


After users upload their driver's license, they must take a selfie photo to verify their identity. Our system uses advanced facial recognition software to match users to the photos on their uploaded license or ID card. 


       1. From the Selfie Verification screen, click Next. 


       2Align your face in the oval and hold. Your selfie will be captured automatically. 



       3. Return to your 1Kosmos account. Verify that the information displayed matches your driver's license or ID, and click Continue. 


  


       4.  Your Identity Wallet will indicate that your license or ID has been successfully enrolled. Congratulations! 



Unenroll your driver's license or state ID


You can unenroll your driver's license or ID card at any time to completely remove any saved document information from your identity wallet. 


After unenrolling your driver's license, you will no longer be able to verify your identity using this document. All previous identity verification information relating to this document will also be removed. 


       1. To unenroll your driver's license or ID card, click Unenroll, located beneath the Driver's License card.  

   

      2. Your Identity Wallet will show that your license or ID is no longer enrolled.
